Cherry blossom picnic

The Cherry Blossom Picnic hasn't happened for a few years but following feedback from WSA members that they would like to see this event return, on Thursday 25 September a group of about 20 WSA members, friends and family came together. Katherine Mansfield Memorial Park is a lovely space hidden away in Thorndon and has a number of cherry trees donated by Sakai in 2007 and again in 2012 so it was great to share food together while appreciating these beautiful gifts from our sister city. Each year the cherry blossoms / Wellington spring weather and wind never give us much warning for a get-together but keep an eye out for this regular event in September. 

The next time we get together at Katherine Mansfield for our shinenkai (New Years event) will be on Wednesday 4 February (anniversary of the signing of the sister-city agreement between Wellington and Sakai) and it will be a little bit warmer than September so we hope to see you all there :)
