Keen to establish or enhance connections with Japan?
Mayor Ray Wallace will be leading a Hutt City delegation to sister city Minoh, Osaka in October this year. We’ll explore education and business opportunities, connections for our art community and celebrate the 20th anniversary of our friendship and links with Minoh.
We’ll be visiting Minoh to build on the regular programmes established between our two cities and celebrate the 20th anniversary of our relationship after Mayor Kurata’s visit earlier this year. We’ll be supporting three Lower Hutt schools on their visit to Minoh and will:
- Promote education opportunities in Lower Hutt to Japan
- Develop a teacher exchange programme
- Develop the links and opportunities with respective art associations
- Explore further economic and tourism opportunities
Minoh and Osaka
Minoh in the Osaka region of Japan, is a city of 130,000 people, and is best known for its natural assets and regional parks similar to our own in Lower Hutt. Minoh is located in the northern part of Osaka, between the historical city of Kyoto and the port city of Kobe. Many educational facilities and universities are located in the city and surrounding areas.
